I have been a little out of touch lately and that's because I have been doing a little bit of traveling to visit family for the holidays. I flew down to Seattle last week (so much snow!!) and then drove down to California where I am right now to spend surprise some more family.
According to the Astronaut Selection Office, everyone should have been contacted by the end of November and invited for interviews or asked to get medical evaluations. I did not get contacted so here's to next time!! :) I'm not down or anything about, but I will continue my graduate studies and explore new space opportunities!
I hope everyone has a great holiday! I return to Florida next week...but then head to visit Boston for New Years!!

I'm sure you will have many exciting space opportunities. Just a reminder: if I recall correctly, Neil Armstrong was evaluated but not selected among the Mercury 7, yet played a major role in the space program.

I value your posts. I very much enjoy your perspective---keep up the posts! And if, ultimately, they turn you down, my expectations are that much higher for the next batch of astronauts.....

Damaris, sorry to hear you weren't contacted. Neither was I, and I am pursuing this dream as well. First time I've actually applied, so I suppose I'm not surprised I haven't been contacted (should be finishing my PhD this year). The way I see it: becoming an astronaut would be a dream job, so it's not something you can count on. I will continue to apply throughout my career, but as long as I feel I am making a contribution to the exploration, understanding or utilization of space for the benefit of humankind, I will be satisfied.
