I know the posting of this image is rather late, but I wanted to share with all of you this picture of the shuttle at Edwards Air Force Base. This was taken the Sunday before it arrived back at Kennedy Space Center. It was stormin' pretty bad out there. The weather was the issue why the return of the shuttle to KSC was delayed a little. Now.....It's Floridas turn with the weather. The winds are pretty bad in South Florida right now.

when I read your blog I feel u have a cool goal and it inspired me to find my own goal..^^..
wish u'll reach your dream..
Now this is an interesting blog. I'm going to be following you in your adventures ... hope you make it to space! :-)
This is a great blog! My little girl (9) doesn't want to be an astronaut but she wants to work on terraforming for NASA. The NASA education site told me she should pursue astrobiology and microbiology debrees, but I can't find any astrobiology degree programs to look into on the net. If you have any advice for her, I'd love to hear it!
Wow , kool blog. Going to have to keep is posted on your Journey :)
wow, some nice pics here.
I hope you can make it to space. I've always dreamed of it, but for various and sundry reasons, that dream died some 10-15 years ago. :-P Anyway, keep up the posting!
Are you an astronaut?
It´s true...? I can´t believe it. I live in Buenos Aires. The space for us is like that old Pixies´s CD... Trompe le monde... do you remember?

I learned from a tv show that such lightning could really come out of nowhere and harm the shuttles during launches...
Damaris,
Nice picture, do you by any chance have one of the shuttle piggyback on the 747?

Wow, that is one amazing picture. Did you take that yourself?
your blog is very motivating. here's to your goal --- look forward to seeing you on a shuttle in the not too distant future!
Good luck!!!
A friend of mine also wants to be an astronaut he's already a jet pilot and started to study Mechanical Engineering at Texas univesity hoping to change to aerospatial engineering. Unfortunately I believe money made him come back to Mexico to work but at least he's winning fly hours. Maybe sometime you'll fly together to the moon( that sound a little romantic, but that was not my intetion!).
Good luck and I'll recomend him this blog
This is a great site Damaris. I have linked to it from my blog. What you are doing is quite interesting. I am looking forward to your next post.

I wanted to be an astronaut for a long time as well. I have since moved on, but I hope you reach your goal! Good Luck!

What i am intrested in knowing from you is how much is NASA working on space surgery programes?
I am really intrested in specialised aviation surgery rather than aviation medicine as i am orthopaedic surgon myself !:)
I always wanted to be an astronaut, but my eyesight is terrible, it's like 20/60 vision.
Also, in response to drsankalp, as you know, there is no gravity in space. I think that null-gravity surgeries would be almost impossible because blood would just flow anywhere. Same with grinded bone and other such things.
Interesting blog. Congrats on following your dreams. I hope to become a Medical Doctor someday.
In response to Matthias
there is already work on robotic aviation surgeries.
there is great future for space surgeries with new space station for commercial use are there in near future.
I THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART FOR THE AMAZING PICTURES.
EVEN I WISH TO BECOME AN ASTRONAUT BUT HAVE VERY BAD EYESIGHT.PLEASE DO BLESS ME WITH YOUR KIND ADVICE BECAUSE UNLIKE OTHERS,FOR ME, SKY IS NOT THE LIMIT & I BELIEVE THAT DREAMS AREN'T THOSE WHICH U SEE WITH CLOSED EYES ,BUT ,THEY ARE THOSE WHICH NEVER LET U SLEEP!!!!!!
so keep up the spirit & do communicate.
