This was the first time I've ever heard the sonic boom. It was amazing! Our friends are home!

I started this blog to document the actions I am taking in trying to become an astronaut. It's my ultimate goal, my dream. Every week or so I post a new update to recap the week or add interesting pictures. I hope you enjoy the site and remember to follow your dreams no matter what others may think of them.

It did not even occur to me that a shuttle landing would make noise. Watching too much sci-fi I guess...
Thanks for updating us on everything!
Welcome back Discovery
... and looking in good shape, too!
Congratulations to STS-121 and all involved in that mission (including you, Ms. Sarria)!
Now comes the next challenge - turning around and supporting the next mission at the end of next month! Good Luck!
Congrats Damaris. I've never seen a landing... I wished I was there when I got the text message from Florida today at 5 AM. LOL.
I saw it on nasa TV. "Discovery, we like the other runway better, so why don't you pass over us, make a u-turn and land the other way around (without having the possibility to accelerate when necesary)?" The pilot simply said "ok" and not "Houston, Discovery here - we'd really like to land as soon as possible and go to have a beer or two so do us a favor and shut up" as I'd expected. very cool those guys.
