Over the weekend the 2008 Air and Space Show was held at Kennedy Space Center. Here are a couple of awesome shots of the aircraft at the show (including the F/A-18 Blue Angels, F-4, F-16 and F-104G Starfighter!!)

I started this blog to document the actions I am taking in trying to become an astronaut. It's my ultimate goal, my dream. - Welcome to my blog! I grew up in California and later attended Texas A&M University to earn a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering. I also hold a Master's degree in Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. I previously worked at Kennedy Space Center for Boeing on the Space Shuttle Orbiter's Thermal Protection System. I transitioned to an engineering position with the MIT Lincoln Laboratory in Lexington, MA. I applied for the 2009 astronaut candidate program, but unfortunately did not get a call back. I applied again in early 2011 so fingers crossed! I currently am working on continuing my advanced education, involvement with space advocacy, and continuing to do all that I love in life!

Damaris, in Seattle the airspace is class B around Seatac airport. I live one mile away. There is a Boeing field airport across from where I work.
The ASA ground school DVD for the private license talks about Seatac airport.
Seattle is known for its almost constant cloudiness. This crunches the time available to practice for a private license.
There is an acredited school fifteen minutes away from me that teaches flying.
Seattle is a small place with a lot of highways and skyscrapers.
I drive near the Space Needle every week.
There is a Museum of Flight three minutes away from my place of work. Bonnie Dunbar works at the museum. It's a pretty large place! It has a NASA area (moon rock etc), wall with many pictures of astronauts from this state, fantastic Boeing area, many war rooms, and a few famous planes such as airforce one etc. They had last December a simulation of one of the nodes on the ISS.
Anyway, every year we get to see the Blue Angels for free. It's a big event.
A few months ago we also saw two F22s take-off and land. Boeing manufacutres the two wings and aft fuselage, so we got to walk around them and get team pictures. We got to hear a few of the pilots speak. One of them was a woman. Boeing gave out posters and F22 coins.
I was on one of the major highways at the time the F22s took off (4:30 PM sharply). I saw trucks go off the road because of these amazing take-offs! I think they called the police.
I'm still searching my mailbox for that precious NASA letter.
